As most of you know I have been dating Tiffnie Akiona for almost a year. I have always known that Tiffnie was someone special; I always tell her that I want to make her smile, laugh, feel beautiful and like a princess.
Last week on Thursday, Tiffnie and I had dinner at The Boulevard Cafe. Tiffnie mentioned that Half Dome was the second most beautiful place she had ever been to. But secretly she didn’t want to make the hike but she deiced to go anyways. (lucky for her.. hehe)
We started the hike at 6AM. Within the first 30 min Tiffnie started to get altitude sickness. So we took it easy and the rest of people we were hiking with took off. We went up the Mist Trail because it was a shorter route. I’m not sure if this was the smartest idea. We were soaked before we finished getting to the top of the falls.
After the Misty Trail we managed to catch up with a few of my coworkers. The closer to the top we were, the more I realized how out of shape I was.
Once we made it to the granite staircase Tiffnie ended up pulling her gluteus on the way up. We sat down and had a talk. We came to the conclusion that there was no way she was going to make it up the cables. So I told her not to leave and I would be back. I had the raffle tickets for our company fundraiser so I had to meet the rest of the team at the top. So I left most of my gear with Tiffnie on top of Sub-Dome. So, I ran up the outside of the cables in about 10 min. While I was at the top we pulled the winning ticket. I told the guys I was going to head down back to Tiffnie so I could get some lunch. So I made my way back down the cables on the outside.
Once I arrived back down I reminded Tiffnie about our dinner the previous night. I said to her remember when you told me that half dome was the 2nd most beautiful place you have ever been to? Well do you know what would make it even more special? Then I pulled out a ring and asked if she wanted to spend the rest of her life with me. She was shocked. She went to hug me and knocked the ring outside of my hand. The box fell and then ring flew out and rolled half way down sub-dome. I thought it was a goner for sure! I dove for the ring almost to my death! Afterwards all we could do was laugh.
Ross & Chris came down from Half dome and we told them what happened. Everyone was so excited. Later that night we had some champagne to celebrate.
